It's me, your favourite developer, Clarr!

Hey! It's me, your favourite developer, Clarr, and I'm going on a bike ride!

But my real name is Michael and I am doing a charity bike ride called the Bobbo in Sydney, Australia.
I am doing the 104km ride and I'm super excited for it!
The ride supports a charity called Lifeline which is a suicide prevention and mental health charity in Australia.
It's a good cause: mental health, depression and suicide is badly stigmatized in modern society and lifeline runs a desparately needed service to the community.
All donations go directly to the charities and not to me.

FAQ

Favourite developer?
Unconfirmed.

Can't donate?
That's ok, Thanks for your support. Times are currently pretty tough, make sure you are able to support yourself before you consider supporting.

International Donation?
Use paypal if you can. Also make sure you press the donate button on the profile on the left so it assigns your donation correctly (not the one on the top!).

Do you have permission to do this?
I requested permissions from the assistants to do this, and it was granted with some restrictions. I will abide by their restrictions smileyface.

Twitch Stream?
If we reach this goal, the result might be super scuffed due to several reasons:

If it is super scuffed, I will take a video recording of it and we can watch it back over Discord or twitch streaming, with commentary!
We also need to reach this goal at least 3 days before the ride for me to get it all set up.
If we reach this goal early, I can take you on several possibly scuffed training rides around Sydney!

EDIT: I can't believe we made this goal so early! You can find me on Twitch here! I can stream my training rides weekdays Sydney Time from either 6:30am if I do a morning ride, or 5pm if I do an evening ride.

Tax Deduction?
Deductable in Australia, this means its basically free (get your own tax advice)!
Check your local tax rules for if overseas donations are tax deductible for you.

Who gets the money?
The money goes to charity, not to me. Find out more here. The entrance fee paid by the riders covers the cost of the event, so all donations go to the charity.

Why the minimum donation?
Small donations always get eaten up by transaction fees. Make sure your donation is at least AUD $10 ($10 Dollarydoos).
As of writing $10 Dollarydoos is about $6.51 USD (Freedom Dollars) and 6 Euros and 6,500 CPs. But you can round up for a good cause right?

Donating Anonymously
There is an option to donate anonymously if you want, you still get a receipt and you can still go into the raffle.

If we reach $750
If we reach certain tiers I get some free merch from the race organizers.
I don't personally want to gain anything so if I do receive any free stuff, I have made a donation for the equivalent value (~$75).
Holds true for any other tier which I get free stuff.

When is the ride
24th of March, at 6:30am, Sydney time.

How long is the ride
It's 104km with 1,450m of climbing. This is a lot of climbing for me! I expect it to take about 4 hours of riding time. I am hoping to ride at about 30kph on the flats, and then lose all the time and speed struggling up the climbs. Check out the elevation graph on the route.

If the ride doesn't go ahead
There's some reasons it might not go ahead, they all boil down to safety.
I'm not going to ride if the event is cancelled, however I will do an equivalent 104km ride as soon as practical and meet any goals for this make-up ride. Note my replacement ride won't be the same route since its very far from my residence.
I will still ride if it is raining smileyface.

How do I know its you?
It's me :D I've played SWC for over 20 years and this is my personal website. Send me a DM if you want me to confirm it!
